Determine level of structural member deformity in the furnace area of an industrial building.
Scanning was necessary to capture the structural members in their as-is condition. The manufacturing facility was in operation, so scanning was the fastest and best way to collect the needed data.
Quick Data Collection – Since scanning can be done quickly, it was not necessary to shut down operations and production.
As-Is Steel Conditions – After data collection, billions of points were used to create a 3D model of the facility.
Deviation and Deflection Detection – The point cloud and 3D model were used to create overlays to show deviation in structural steel.
Correct Repairs Made – Armed with information, the engineering group could determine exactly which members needed repair, stiffening, or replacing.
