AsBuilt for the Removal of Fuel Gas Heaters and Isolation Valves

The Challenge
AsBuilt was contracted to provide an engineering package for the removal of fuel gas heaters, isolation valves, and associated electrical and instrumentation equipment at a power plant. The heaters were never commissioned and posed a risk for gas leaks while adding to the site's maintenance load. The heaters, which are positioned on a skid, needed to be safely removed.

The Solution
Our team performed engineering work to ensure the successful removal and replacement of large bore high-energy valves/piping. This involved planning cuts, removal details, temporary pipe supports, permanent pipe support modifications (as needed), and installation details for new valves. We conducted piping and support analysis to ensure that the new valve installation would not cause stresses in the piping, temporary supports, or permanent supports beyond code-allowable limits.

Deliverables

  • Pipe stress analysis report
  • Stress analysis model native files (CAESAR II)
  • Structural support stress analysis report
  • 3D scanning point cloud
  • NavisWorks model of piping and structural steel
  • Isometric drawings
