The Challenge:

The hydro dam management requested the scanning and modeling of the intake system.  The facility did not have as-built drawings available for upgrade planning of aging equipment.

The Solution:

AsBuilt was contracted to collect the as-is conditions of the dam intake arrangement.  The data was collected in an 8-hour window and converted to 3D model space within 2 weeks.  The dams within the system are in remote locations.  Gathering information without scanning would be time consuming and dangerous.

Quick Facts:

Correct As Built Drawings – An exact as built was delivered in 3D.

Data in Difficult Terrain – Using traditional methods of measuring up would be exceedingly difficult due to the environment in  which the equipment was located.  

Group Collaboration – Taking a group of engineers or contractors to the field location would be extremely dangerous and risky.  Once collected, the data and modeling were easy to review.

Retrofit Design – Design is simplified once accurate data is provided.  It is impossible to design a correct solution when designing from inaccurate data.
